EZLand Donates 200 Water Tanks to Help Residents in Cần Giuộc District, Long An Overcome Drought and Saline Intrusion

On April 17, 2025, EZLand donated 200 rainwater tanks to 100 households in Cần Giuộc District, Long An Province, to support local residents in overcoming difficulties caused by the prolonged drought and saltwater intrusion. The situation of Saline Intrusion and Drought in Cần Giuộc District

Located in the downstream area of Long An Province, Cần Giuộc District has long faced challenges related to saline intrusion and drought, especially during the dry season. Due to its geographical location near river mouths and being directly affected by the Vàm Cỏ river system, the area frequently experiences high salinity levels, seriously impacting domestic water supply and agricultural production.

According to a report by the People's Committee of Cần Giuộc District, in the dry season of 2024, around 6,150 households in 5 communes suffered from a lack of clean water, with an urgent need of up to 520 cubic meters of water per day. This situation has disrupted the lives of many residents and caused significant losses to farming and economic activities, particularly rice cultivation and fruit farming.

The primary causes of saline intrusion in Cần Giuộc include reduced upstream flow from the Mekong River, combined with rising sea levels due to climate change. Prolonged heatwaves in recent years have exacerbated the drought, resulting in saline-contaminated wells and depleted water reserves. Many households struggle to access clean water, waiting in long queue at public water distribution points.

EZLand’s Actions

In response to this situation, EZLand has collaborated with Les Enfants Du Dragon (a French non-governmental organization) and the Union of Friendship Organizations of Long An Province launched a program to donate 200 rainwater storage tanks of 1,000 liters each, to 100 of some of the most affected households in the three communes of Cần Giuộc District: Long Hậu, Tân Tập, and Phước Lai. This initiative is part of EZLand’s CSR program for the 2025–2030 period.

At the donation ceremony, a representative from EZLand stated: "With sustainable development in mind, EZLand not only develops residential real estate projects but also always has the environment and the community at the heart of all its activities. We understand that climate change, with its direct and indirect effects like saline intrusion and drought, is dramatically affecting people’s lives. Donating rainwater storage tanks not only helps residents actively store water during the rainy season but also reduces pressure on water supplies during the dry season for the community as a whole. This is our way of lending a hand to the local people to overcome difficulties and work toward a more sustainable future."

Each household received two water tanks, enough to meet basic needs during the dry months. The tanks are sturdy, easy to install, and suitable for the local climate, ensuring long-term use for the residents.

EZLand’s Sustainable Development Orientation

With a vision of sustainable development, the company consistently emphasizes minimizing ecological impact, responding to climate change, and improving community living standards. Hopes from the Program

Residents in the supported communes expressed joy and gratitude for EZLand’s care. Mr. Võ Văn Hai, a local resident in Tân Tập Commune, shared:

"Last dry season, my family had to wake up at 1–2 a.m. to queue for water, and even then, it wasn’t enough. Thanks to these water tanks, we feel more secure knowing we can store rainwater for later use."

The program not only provides immediate benefits but also helps raise community awareness about proactively dealing with drought and saline intrusion. It serves as a call to action for other businesses and organizations to join hands in supporting residents in areas heavily affected by natural disasters.

Hopefully, with the joint efforts of EZLand, the community and coordinated solutions from local authorities, Cần Giuộc will soon overcome these challenges and ensure stable living conditions for its residents.
